US Energy Secretary Chris Wright says that US forces are aiding Saudi oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz as the kingdom diverts supply away from its stricken East-West pipeline.
Saudi authorities in the past few days “are taking quick action to have more of the oil that is not going through the East-West pipeline to go out of the Strait of Hormuz with the United States military,” Wright said in an interview with CNBC.
Wright said that he expects Saudi Arabia’s East-West pipeline to resume operations within days.
Saudi Arabia shut down the strategic pipeline after it was hit by drones launched from Iraq. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
