Germany revokes gun licenses of AfD members

 A total of 17 hunters affiliated with the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in Saxony-Anhalt have lost their gun and hunting licenses, while another 122 cases are under review, "Bild" reports.

The measure is based on a ruling by the Higher Administrative Court of Magdeburg, which determined that the state may take preventive action to minimize risks associated with gun ownership without waiting for crimes to be committed or harm to occur.

Revoking hunters' weapons solely on the basis of their political affiliation is an "unprecedented case" in Germany, the outlet notes.
