Houthis claim to be launching "preemptive" attacks against Saudi forces in the southwest of the country

 Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree announced on Thursday that Yemeni forces launched a "preemptive" military strike against Saudi positions in the city of Jizan, located in the country's far southwest, using dozens of ballistic missiles and drones that struck command centers, weapons depots, and other military facilities.

Saree explained that the attack followed the detection of a Saudi troop buildup intended, he said, to "escalate tensions in border areas." 

He also noted that more than 200 missiles had been fired from Jizan at border areas in the provinces of Saada and Hajjah.

According to the Houthi spokesman, the attacks struck troop concentrations in the Al-Tuwal area, belonging to the so-called Sixth Emergency Division,as well as command-and-control centers and weapons depots. He also noted that missile launch platforms and sites at the Al-Daghareer camp were targeted.

The spokesman stated that several Saudi camps in the Jizan region were also hit, describing the strikes as "precise and direct." Furthermore, he claimed that hundreds of Saudi reinforcements arriving from Yemen and Sudan were killed or wounded, along with dozens of Saudi military personnel and officers.
