Kremlin comments on Trump's call for Zelenskyy not to attack diesel production plants in Russia

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on Monday on U.S. President Donald Trump's call for the Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to stop attacking energy facilities in Russia.

"Undoubtedly, any call for the Kyiv regime to cease attacks on civilian economic infrastructure is to be welcomed," he told the press in response to a question on the matter.

This week, the price of diesel in the U.S. hit a record high of six dollars per gallon (3.79 liters) for the first time in history, according to GasBuddy, a fuel price tracking service. The previous year, the national average price was $3.70. U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright linked the record diesel prices to attacks by Ukrainian forces on Russian refineries and the policies of the Joe Biden administration. "Diesel has been affected by many factors, but the main one has been the destruction of Russian refineries by Ukraine," he stated.

Meanwhile, diesel reserves in Europe are approaching their lowest levels in years, Morgan Stanley noted in July.
