French President Emmanuel Macron announced that during his meeting this Monday with his U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump, they discussed possible options for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
"Various solutions have been proposed," the French leader told the press.
He explained that work would be done "in the coming hours" on diplomatic alternatives to facilitate the passage of container ships and oil tankers without the need to reach a "comprehensive agreement."
He also noted that they discussed the situation in the Red Sea and ways to bolster security at oil export points without triggering "a confrontation or an escalation."
