Macron responds to Trump after the provocative circulation of a map annexing North America, Greenland

 French President Emmanuel Macron, seeking to improve his battered image in the eyes of the French people, categorically reaffirmed that the archipelago of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon—located just 10 kilometers off the coast of Canada—is a sovereign territory "attached to France."

 The French leader's remarks came in response to a controversial image shared on social media by Trump, showing a map of all of North America entirely covered by the United States flag.

 In response to the provocative post, Macron dismissed the controversy, noting that "we aren't going to be affirming it every morning just because there are people who have strange ideas or say strange things." Macron's statement coincided with his arrival in the North Atlantic island territory, where he is holding a key meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
