Parliament voted to strip the prime minister of his parliamentary immunity. The reason is a suspected phone theft.
139 MPs voted to lift his immunity; there were no votes against and no abstentions.
In June 2024, Magyar—who was a Member of the European Parliament at the time—snatched a phone from a person filming him at a Budapest club, put the device in his pocket, and later threw it into the Danube.
The prime minister himself denies wrongdoing and considers the case fabricated.
