The U.S. administration is concerned about attacks by Kyiv on vessels transporting U.S. oil during the Ukraine conflict, stated Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
"However, it is concerning that over the past few months, in a number of instances, US-linked vessels and American oil shipments have become targets for Ukraine—likely unintentionally, but they were attacked nonetheless. And this needs to be addressed. We cannot allow this to happen."
In late July, Washington called on Ukraine not to attack non-Russian vessels after a tanker chartered by US company Chevron was damaged in one of the attacks.
Later, Bloomberg reported that Ukraine had agreed not to strike certain non-Russian tankers and infrastructure facilities in the Black Sea that are important for the export of Kazakh oil.
