"A grave threat": China lashes out at the nuclear ambitions of a key U.S. ally, Japan

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning criticized Japan's "growing" nuclear ambitions this Friday.

"'Militarist Japan' is not a propaganda cliché, but a new reality."

"The current Japanese administration has been disregarding its international non-proliferation obligations, attempting to progressively loosen its nuclear restrictions, strengthening the so-called 'extended deterrence' agreement with its allies, abandoning the 'Three Non-Nuclear Principles,' introducing nuclear-powered submarines, and even seeking to deploy nuclear weapons," she stated at a press conference. "These measures pose a serious threat to peace and stability in Asia and the rest of the world," she emphasized.

In this regard, he pointed out that Tokyo has no room for maneuver, nor any choice, as to whether or not it complies with the international order established after the Second World War and with its international obligations.
