Initially, unidentified individuals threatened Latvian military personnel while attempting to forcibly bring about 20 illegal migrants into the country.
The military prevented them from crossing the border.
A few hours later, however, an armed group managed to break into Latvia; they damaged a distribution panel and stole surveillance cameras.
The incident took place on the Latvian-Belarusian border.
There are no verified reports of an armed foreign military or paramilitary group breaking into Latvia
