US officials have contacted representatives of Ukraine and European nations to warn that Washington could halt intelligence sharing and block the PURL mechanism,a program used to procure American weaponry for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Financial Times reports.
The US has warned Ukraine that it might curtail military support and intelligence sharing if Kyiv does not halt strikes on Russian oil refining infrastructure.
According to the report, the Donald Trump administration has signaled to Ukrainian authorities and European allies that the PURL mechanism, used to procure American weaponry for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, could be jeopardized.
Over the weekend, US officials were in frequent contact with Kyiv and European capitals, urging an end to attacks on Russian oil refineries.
A European source cited by the newspaper described a barrage of calls from US representatives to Kyiv and "everyone in Europe" as they sought to bring about a shift in Ukrainian tactics.
