Satellite imagery shows a growing network of Houthi tunnels and trenches stretching up to 20 kilometers across the mountains overlooking the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.
The positions are part of a wider effort to secure control over the strategic chokepoint and prepare for any attempt to challenge Houthi military dominance in the area.
The buildup comes as Ansar Allah has intensified strikes against Saudi targets in retaliation for Saudi attacks on Yemen and restrictions on maritime traffic.
With the Strait of Hormuz already under pressure, Bab al-Mandeb has become another front in the regional struggle over control of key shipping routes.
