Senior Iranian military official warns U.S. of possible new front and a 'Hormuz 2.0'

General Yahya Rahim Safavi, military advisor to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, has stated that in the event of renewed aggression by Washington, hostilities could spread to a new flashpoint in the Middle East.

"I must point out here that if the Americans start a new war, a new front centered on the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait could open up right before their eyes," he stated.

"Are they prepared to fight on this front? It is a question they must carefully consider," he added.

The senior military official emphasized that "for more than 100 years, Yemenis have confronted any invading force that attempted to violate their territorial integrity in any way."

"The Ansar Allah [Houthi] movement has its own objectives and strategy, and has achieved significant advances in weapons production. I believe the connection between the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea, between the Straits of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb, will transform the landscape of the war," he concluded.

  1. The zone of hostilities in the Iran-US conflict may stretch to the Indian Ocean if US aggression resumes, Rahim Safavi, adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, said.

"Now that the war has spread from the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz to the Red Sea, our response in the next stage of a possible war could make this front even broader, extending to the Indian Ocean and other regions," Fars news agency quoted him as saying.
