The US House of Representatives has passed a bill, named after late Senator Lindsey Graham, by a vote of 262-159 to impose sweeping sanctions and tariffs to increase economic pressure on Iran and Russia, Reuters reports.
The Lindsey O Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026, introduced by Graham himself, was approved in the Senate last month by 86-11.
Although the legislation primarily targets Russia, it extends the Iran Sanctions Act of 1996 signed by former President Bill Clinton. The 1996 act was set to expire in 2026 but has been extended for an additional five years.
