Canada has updated its travel advisory for Saudi Arabia, urging citizens to “avoid all travel” to King Khalid international airport in Riyadh and King Fahd international airport in Dammam due to ongoing military activity.
In an update issued on October 22, the Canadian government said missile and drone attacks had disrupted operations at several Saudi airports.
“King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh is currently closed,” the advisory said, warning that further attacks could lead to the closure of Saudi airspace and that additional airports could close “at any time with little or no warning”.
Canada also urged citizens to “avoid non-essential travel” to Saudi Arabia overall, citing the “volatile security situation in the region”.
Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defence says an alert has been issued through the National Early Warning Platform in Riyadh, warning residents of potential danger.
