The U.S. military does not rule out carrying out attacks within Iraqi territory

The U.S. military does not rule out carrying out strikes within Iraqi territory despite the conclusion of Operation Inherent Resolve, a U.S. official told The Washington Post.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that the mission will be relocated to Jordan to combat terrorists in Syria.

The official noted that Washington could launch strikes in Iraq should a threat arise to U.S. troops or American interests.

  1. The streets of Baghdad were filled with celebrations following the completion of the withdrawal of U.S. and coalition forces from Iraq.

The Iraqi government has declared the days from September 30 to October 3 official holidays.

More than two decades after the 2003 U.S. invasion and 12 years after the return of U.S. troops in 2014, the last U.S. military personnel deployed in Iraq have left the country.
