"A projectile of unknown origin struck Passenger Terminal 4 at King Khalid International Airport, causing a fire," stated Turki Maliki, spokesman for the Saudi-led Arab coalition fighting Yemen's Houthi rebels.
Relevant services are working at the scene of the incident.
The AFP agency reported earlier in the day that an explosion had been heard in the Saudi capital city of Riyadh.
